Is Adrian Beltre The Number 2 Third Baseman

When it comes to head to head fantasy baseball, everyone is looking for the next big thing. There are always players to consider drafting at nearly every position, but the gap between Miguel Cabrera and the rest of the third basemen is pretty big. So can Adrian Beltre really settle in as the consensus #2 guy at that position?

Beltre continues to be one of the most underrated players in baseball each and every year, putting up solid numbers and playing great defense along the way. He will have to make do without the likes of Josh Hamilton and Michael Young on the team this year though. This is a guy who might see a bit of a dip in his RBI and run totals in 2013 because of that, but he is still probably the second best head to head fantasy baseball option.

Perhaps the biggest obstacle for Beltre is to stay healthy through an entire season. As he ages, it seems to be a harder and harder thing to do. Playing third base every single day can take a toll on older players, but his defense is very valuable to the Rangers so he is not going to move to be a designated hitter any time soon.

Overall, the Rangers might be a bit down as a team, but they are happy to still have Beltre on their side. He should slide in nicely with their younger lineup, and he could actually begin to receive the star treatment that he deserves. There are not a lot of head to head fantasy baseball players out there better than him. As long as he stays healthy, he can be one of the better hitters in baseball. He has been doing it for years now, so it is about time that he gets a little bit more respect around the league in general.
